SOLUTION: In the case of checking uneven color of a periodic pattern by processing a transmittance picture (inspection object picture) (A) consisting of an effective part Ia that corresponds to an object and an ineffective part Ib in the outside of the effective part 1a obtained by photographing the object with the periodic pattern, a symmetrical periodic picture (D) are generated, in which adjacent pictures are arranged symmetrically in 8 directions around an effective picture Ie resulting from segmenting the effective part Ia of the transmittance picture Ia by using an effective range E that is a maximum rectangle circumscribed in a mask area M of a mask picture (B), filtering processing is applied to a range of the symmetrical periodic picture (D) equivalent to the effective part Ia to generate an emphasis picture (E), and uneven color is discriminated on the basis of a mask emphasis picture (F) generated by masking the emphasis picture (E) with the mask picture (B).
