PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a plasma display panel having good productivity and workability by forming the barrier rib of the plasma display panel with excellent height accuracy with a high yield. SOLUTION: This barrier rib forming method includes the following process steps: a photosensitive resin composition layer is formed on a substrate; the photosensitive resin composition layer is exposed to light and developed in a pattern so as to define a plurality of resin patterns on the substrate; after a barrier rib material is charged into the opening between the defined resin patterns and is dried and hardened, the unnecessary barrier rib material remaining on the resin patterns is removed by sandblasting; and then the resin patterns are removed. The manufacturing method for a plasma display panel is as follows: on the substrate, a discharge electrode and the barrier rib by the barrier rib forming method for the plasma display panel are formed; the two substrates are spacedly bonded together; and then the space between the substrates is filled with discharge gas.
