PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable sewing by confirming bobbin thread quantity of a bobbin, and to prevent the occurrence of a shortage of bobbin thread by lack of the bobbin thread during sewing by displaying required bobbin thread quantity on a display means reading out the required bobbin thread quantity required with every pattern stored in a storage means when selecting a pattern by a pattern selecting means. SOLUTION: Pattern information designated by operation of a pattern selecting means 6 is stored in and held by a selecting pattern storage means 9, pattern control data is read out by adjusting the timing to a vertical movement of a needle to a start of a sewing machine, and a pattern seam is formed by driving an X direction driving motor 11 and a Y direction driving motor 12. In this case, a required bobbin thread quantity operation program storage means 17 is arranged to thereby arithmetically operate required bobbin thread quantity by required bobbin thread quantity corresponding to pattern seam information prestored in a storage means 19 and an operation expression of a correction factor different by a thickness of cloth, a kind of the cloth, a kind of thread and deformation of a pattern. The arithmetically operated required bobbin thread quantity is displayed on a required bobbin thread quantity display means 18.
