PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute update processing of learning value by selectively making only an electronic controller storing unusable learning values only a part of an unusable learning value an update object in rewriting a control program. SOLUTION: An ECU compares a control program side check code included in a rewritten control program with a learning value side check code corresponding to a control program used when a learning value is stored and checks the coincidence/noncoincidence between both of them (S120). In the case of noncoincidence, whether or not the initialization of the learning value is needed from the relation of the both check codes (S130), and if needed, the learning value is initialized (S140). The learning value side check code is updated so as to make the learning value side check code coincide with a control program side check code (S150). Consequently, only a usable learning value is selectively initialized and a usable learning value is maintained.
