Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance resistance to thermal spalling and structural spalling due to alkali salts by using a magnesia clinker as a base and incorporating a specified amount of chromite having a specified Cr2O3 content and a specified coefficient of linear thermal expansion. SOLUTION: The firebrick is a lining material used for a rotary firing kiln such as a cement kiln or a lime firing kiln. It is based on a magnesia clinker and contains 10-30 wt.% chromite having >=38 wt.% Cr2O3 content and >=1.25% coefficient of linear thermal expansion at 1,400 deg.C. Voids occur around the chromite in the firebrick and spalling resistance is enhanced. The magnesia clinker is not particularly limited if the MgO content is >=95 wt.% and a fired or electromelted clinker or the like may be used. |
