Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoreceptor high in sensitivity and superior in stability in repeating uses, durable against successive uses for a long time. SOLUTION: The electrphotographic photoreceptor is provided on a conductive substrate with a charge generating layer and a charge transfer layer containing an antioxidant, such as a tocopherol compound and a styryl derivative represented by the general formula in which each of R1-R5 is H or a halogen atom or hydroxyl or an aryl or alkyl or alkenyl group; and A is a divalent hydrocarbon group.
