Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize fast processing and to prevent undesirable dye contamination caused by the aggregates of sensitizing dyes by incorporating a thiosulfate fixing agent and a specified oxazole thione or its tautomer and specifying the concentration of the ammonium ion. SOLUTION: This fixing composition contains at least 0.5 mol/L thiosulfate fixing agent and further contains at least 0.001 mol/L oxadiazole thione expressed by the formula or its tautomer. The concentration of the ammonium ion is controlled to at least 50 mol.% of the total cations in the composition. In the formula, R is a hydrogen atom or monovalent substituent having <=12 atoms excluding hydrogen. This fixing composition can be used for the photographic process in which a color photographic silver halide element exposed to an image and color-developed is brought into contact with the fixing composition for <=60 sec.
