Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contour emphasis circuit resistant to noise, and capable of making a circuit system small in size and low in cost. SOLUTION: By differentiating source signals (a) in the two primary differentiation circuits 11 and 12 of different time constants and adding/subtracting the respective primary differentiation outputs (b) and (c) of the primary differentiation circuits 11 and 12 to the source signals (a) in an adder-subtractor 16, a signal waveform (e) after contour emphasis to which the undershoot component of a black side and the overshoot component of a white side are added is obtained.
