Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for a tape streamer device, capable of solving even a reading error in the bent track of a magnet tape having irregular portions on a tape edge. SOLUTION: To execute re-reading by pre-rolling after a magnetic tape 1 is wound on a cylinder and traveled to be read by rotary heads 5a and 5b and a reading error is detected, during the execution of re-reading, the execution routine of an AT servo system 9 is switched from a first routine 9a before re-reading to a second routine 9b. In the second routine 9b, voltages are applied to piezoelectric elements 8a and 8b supporting the rotary heads 5a and 5b to displace the rotary heads 5a and 5b in a recording track width direction.
