Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To magnifiable and projectable not only an opaque original but also a transmissible original in high articulation. SOLUTION: The image of an original 1 placed on a transparent original platen 4 so as to face down is picked up by a camera 7. The transmissible original 1 is lighted by an original illumination 5, and also the back surface of the original 1 is lighted by a backlight unit 16 provided at an original cover 3. A picture signal from the camera 7 is inputted to a projection type display device 12, so that the content of the original 1 is projected on a screen. Lookup tables 9a and 9b for gamma correction are switched by a changeover switch 10 in the case of the opaque original and in the case of the transmissible original.
