Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relieve loss of an information cell on the occurrence of non- matching between virtual path selection systems. SOLUTION: In the changeover control method for two virtual paths (VP), information cells 201, 202 on the transmitter sides of two nodes 101, 102 are controlled, so that they are sent to either of a 0 system VP 103 and a 1 system VP 104 but are not sent to the other, and the information cells 201, 202 at receiver sides 207, 208 are controlled so that they are made confluent through the 0 system VP 103 and the 1 system VP 104. The confluent control of the virtual paths at the receiver side is conducted when at least virtual path selection system at both end nodes of the 0 system VP 103 and the 1 system VP 104 do not match.
