Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent transmission information from being untransmissible due to falling into an unlimited loop via a pseudo network interface performing encapsulation processing. SOLUTION: In a router device which performs packet relay between pseudo network interfaces by physical network interfaces 603 and 604 and a tunnel device driver 802 in a packet forwarding program 803 and a routing table 804 mounted on an operating system 800 of a main storage device 602, an interface table 805 including the definition information of the network interfaces is made referrable from an application program such as a path control program 901 updating the table 804 and a table maintenance program 902, and such erroneous setting as retransmit a packet after encapsulation to the pseudo network interfaces is prevented when the table 804 is updated.
