Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate uniform transfer of coating materials to an article to the coated however thin or thick it is when the coating materials are transferred to the article to be coated by making the article pass between a coating roller and a pressing roller. SOLUTION: This coater transfers coating materials 4 coated on coating rollers 1 to an article to be coated 3 by rotation of rollers while the article to be coated 3 passes between a pressing roller 2 and one of a pair of coating rollers 1 in tight contact with the pressing roller 2. In this case, two coating rollers 1 are placed horizontally in contact with each other and they are respectively rotated downward from the contact point. The pressing roller 2 is rotated in the moving direction of the article to be coated 3, and is placed in tight contact with one of the coating rollers 1 rotating in the moving direction of the article 3. The coating materials 4 applied on the outer surfaces of one or two coating rollers 1 are passed between the pair of coating rollers 1 in contact with each other. The coating film made of the coating materials 4 is formed on the outer surfaces of two coating rollers 1 and the coating film is transferred to the article to be coated.
