Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organic polysiloxane-modified graft copolymer containing a graft chain derived from both macromonomers of an organic polysiloxane and a poly(ethylene-butylene) and to provide a method for producing the copolymer. SOLUTION: A mixture of ethylhexyl acrylate, polydimethylsiloxane having a ω-methacryloyloxypropyl end group, poly(ethylene-butylene) having a ω- methacryloylurethane end group, toluene and 2,2-azobisisobutyronitrile is heated and polymerized with stirring at 70 deg.C for 24 hrs in a nitrogen atmosphere and subsequently cooled to room temperature to terminate the reaction. The obtained polymer solution is poured into methanol and the solvents are evaporated under reduced pressure to give a graft copolymer containing a poly(2-ethylhexyl acrylate) segment, an urethane-functional poly(ethylene-butylene) graft chain and a methacryloyloxypropyl-functional polydimethylsiloxane graft chain as an extremely viscous polymer. The copolymer is useful as an adhesive material and a release coating.
