Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the lowering of a utilization ratio due to moisture penetration by waterproofing an air-zinc battery. SOLUTION: This air-zinc battery has an air diffusion layer 3, a water repellent film, a positive electrode body and a separator accommodated in a positive electrode can 1 having air holes 2 and disposed with a negative electrode case filled with a gel zinc negative electrode through the separator. A polymer resin porous membrane having repellency, such as PTFE fine porous membrane, is used as the air diffusion layer 3 and this air diffusion layer 3 is pressed against the bottom of the positive electrode can 1 with about 1.0 to 3.0 kgf/cm2 of pressure. Thereby no clearance is generated between air holes and the air diffusion layer 3 so that water penetration from the air holes can be prevented. In the case that the air diffusion layer 3 is pressed in the air holes, effects are further enhanced.
