Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large-screen video projector having high luminance and high image quality. SOLUTION: This projector is equipped with a light source, an optical modulation means (optoacoustic modulator) for modulating light according to a video signal and a projection means for projecting the modulated light to a screen. In this case, the projection means is equipped with a polygon mirror 800 making the modulated light scan horizontaly, a 1st relay lens arranged at the post stage of the mirror 800 and having a focal distance f1, a 2nd relay lens arranged at the post stage of the 1st relay lens and having a focal distance f2 which is relatively shorter than the focal distance f1, and a galvanometer for making the light made incident from the 2nd relay lens scan vertically.
