Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve filter efficiency of sludge and dehydrated cake on an outer peripheral filter surface by promoting the removal of a dehydrate cake film from the outer peripheral filter surface. SOLUTION: In this displacement type sludge dehydrating device 30 where sludge is forcibly and alternately fed to both sides pressurizing chambers in a cylinder tube 8 and filtered water is separated from the sludge caught on the outer peripheral filter surface of screen pipes 12 through which a piston 9 is passed and is discharged to outside the cylinder 8 and also the dehydrated cake caught on the surface of the screen pipes 12 in one pressurizing chamber is pressed and discharged to outside the cylinder 8 while removed from the surface of the screen pipes 12 by the action of the piston 9, the screen pipes 12 are formed by winding coil springs 31, 32 along the filter surfaces on which dehydrated cake is caught and accumulated, and with the action of the piston 9, wire parts of the coil springs 31, 32 are slid in the longitudinal direction of the screen pipe 12 while brought into contact with the outer peripheral filter surfaces to promote the removal of the dehydrated cake film from the filter surfaces.
