Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish an improved structure of a hydraulic steering device for an automobile. SOLUTION: The steering adjustment of each car wheel steered 1 in a hydraulic steering device is conducted by a hydraulic operating device 4 connectable to one of a plurality of hydraulic circuits through a selector valve 6, and because the hydraulic circuits are parallel in normal operation and work in the same direction functionally, it is possible in the event of failure to change over to other hydraulic circuit without interruption. The hydraulic circuits include servo valves 9 and 9' for the control of the operating device 4, and these servo valves 9 and 9' are controlled by a control device 25 in accordance with the result from comparison of the actual value of the steering angle with its target value. The control device 25 is connected with a steering angle actual value transmitter 26 operated by the car wheel steered 1 and a steering angle target value transmitter 27 operated through a steering wheel 28 manipulated by the driver.
