Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker in which pressurization and depressurization are effected by appropriate amounts at appropriate times during rice cooking processes. SOLUTION: A vertically moving type pressure governing weight 13 comprising a permanent magnet 9 is provided inside a steam cylinder 7 communicating the inside of a pot 2 to the outside and an electromagnet 11 is installed in the vicinity of the vertically moving type pressure governing weight 13 via the wall surface of the steam cylinder 7. A pressure governing control means 12 for controlling currents through the electromagnet 11 is provided whereby pressurization and depressurization are controlled at appropriate times by means of the weight of the permanent magnet 9 and the attraction and repulsion of magnetic forces produced between the permanent magnet 9 and the electromagnet 11.
