Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating garbage, capable of efficiently treating the garbage without carrying out an incineration treatment, capable of achieving the large reduction of the volume, and capable of sanitarily and non-pollutively treating the garbage without releasing offensive odors and injurious components outside the system. SOLUTION: This method for treating garbage comprises adding Bacillus subtillis Kubota to the garbage and then fermenting and digesting the garbage in a closed vessel. Therein, the generated gaseous materials are taken out from the vessel. The steam in the taken gaseous materials is condensed, and the residual gas is recycled to the vessel through a pipe.
