Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely protect an occupant and reduce the uncomfortable feeling by folding the occupant opposite surface of an air bag opposed to an opening to the inside, and suturing the folded part by use of a thread so as to be held by a lower base cloth and an upper base close. SOLUTION: After an air bag is sewed, the occupant opposite surface of the air bag is folded to the inside of the bag toward an inflator mounting port, and flatly folded along the stitch line of the fan-like parts of a first base cloth 1 and a second base cloth 2 to form a folded part 21. The folded part 21 is sutured by use of nylon 66, for example, so as to be nipped by the first base cloth 1 and the second base cloth 2 to form a first sutured part 22. According to this, the air bag is expanded side wise toward an occupant, thereby preventing the occupant opposite surface from being expanded only to the front, and the uncomfortable feeling to the occupant can be reduced. When the internal pressure of the air bag reaches a prescribed pressure or more, the air bag is expanded forward and finally laid in the natural expanded state, whereby the occupant can be surely protected.
