Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to form a more adequate press blank by executing always adequate pressurization in a method for cutting a planar glass preform previously scribed with a plurality of grooves on one main surface. SOLUTION: When the planar glass preform 20 is pressurized and cut at a groove D1 portion by a presser 191, vibration is instantaneously generated. This vibration is transmitted via a presser base 190 to a vibration sensor 193. The Z-axis servomotor of a pressurizing device 19 stops and the pressurization by the pressor 191 stops when the vibration sensor 193 detects the vibration. Since the pressor 191 is thereby prevented from making more than needed stroking, the chipping of the glass in the cut portion may be prevented.
