Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate a program selection operation by adopting a configuration of electronic program guide EPG display control so as to allow the user to identify a high definition HD broadcast, a multi standard. distribution SD broadcast, and a standard distribution SD broadcast characterizing a mixed broadcast. SOLUTION: When an EPG display mode is executed, a host CPU 7 stores once program information separated by a demultiplexer 3 into a main memory 12, receives again only program information required for an EPG display and controls a graphic generating section 1 and a back end processor 13 or the like to display an EPG menu in a way of on-screen display OSD. In this case, the host CPU 7 mainly configures a display frame of a display size based on an SD broadcast as to a direction of a broadcast station on the EPG menu and displays the frame, displays a display frame displaying program information of an HD broadcast or a multi SD broadcast in a display size equal to the number of channels of the SD broadcast used for the HD broadcast, and also displays information denoting its broadcast form on each display frame. Furthermore, the CPU 7 can change a background color of each display frame.
