Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining the motion of a mouse and a joy stick at a lower cost like a shaft encoder while having advantage of optical tracking technology. SOLUTION: This method is for controlling a position of a cursor or a pointer by mechanical motion, in which a step to freely rotatably support a part of a ball 3 with a microtexture on its surface (4, 14 and 15), a step to transmit the mechanical motion to the ball so that it is rotated, a step to illuminate 5 a part of the ball 3, a step to form 6 an image of the illuminated microtexture on an optical position tracking circuit 7 generating a position control signal that indicates a change of a relative position of a pattern in accordance with the rotation of the ball 3 and a step to transmit 13 the position control signal to a device like a computer are included, and the device to execute the method is provided. |
