PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the function of an air bag system in a gas generator using inflammable gas. SOLUTION: In this gas generator A1, first and second pressure vessels 1, 2 are held in the mutually opposed state of pressure partition walls 3 by a holding member 4, and both pressure vessels 1, 2 are charged with pressurized inflammable gas and provided with ignition means 6. The holding member 4 is provided with gas blowoff ports 8 blowing from gas blowoff space 7 to the outside, and accommodates a cleavage control member 5 movably. The actuating timing of the respective ignition means 6 is made synchronous to increase generated pressure, while the pressure is reduced when the actuating timing of the respective ignition means 6 is made asynchronous, because the pressure partition wall 3 cleaved later is partially suppressed by the cleavage control member 5.
