Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desirable battery separator that is excellent in liquid retention, tensile strength and piercing strength and causes no degradations in battery performance. SOLUTION: The alkaline battery separator is so constructed that a nonwoven fabric sheet of organic fiber is impregnated with a resin-dispersing solution that fixes in it. The resin-dispersing solution is obtained through the steps of dissolving in an organic solvent at least one nonaqueous binder resin selected from a styrene-series thermoplastic resin, an olefin-series resin and a polyolefin halide-series polytetrafluoroethylene resin, dispersing the dissolvent in an aqueous solution including a water-soluble high polymer and/or a surface active agent, and removing the solvent by distillation. |
