Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna position detector for detecting the position of an antenna insertable and detachable to/from the main body of portable telephone set by a non-contact system with reliability and durability. SOLUTION: A whip antenna 30 insertable and detachable to/from the main body of the portable telephone set is detected by a detection means of a non- contact type without a movable part, for instance a magnetic sensor composed of a magnet 71 and a magnetic sensitive sensor 72. The portable telephone set sets a matching circuit corresponding to an antenna position detected by the sensor and obtains matching corresponding to the antenna position. As the detection means, an optical sensor composed of a light emitting element and a light receiving element and an ultrasonic wave sensor, etc., can be used.
