Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the noise by setting the position at least near the center of a solid state laser crystal where the light intensity is substantially zero in the longitudinal multi-mode of a fundamental wave in a resonator. SOLUTION: The position (z) of a solid state laser crystal 4 from a first laser mirror 3 in a resonator is set and length of the resonator is given Lc, so that z=Lc.n/(m.q), n≠j.m (n, m, q and j are each a positive integer, (m) is the longitudinal mode number generated in the resonator, and (q) is the interval of the longitudinal mode). Since no space hold burning occurs at the position (z) in the equation, no mode competition occurs to result in a low noise with the laser crystal 4 set at the position (z). When the focal point position (w) of an exciting light is the same as the position (z) in the equation, the exciting energy concentrates to bring out a more high effect. |
