Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the ability of decomposing dioxins by a basidiomycete, by cleaning contaminated soil with the dioxins by using compost which is obtained by composting wood by using the basidiomycete. SOLUTION: Wood such as a Japanese cedar, a hinoki cypress and a pine tree, and, furthermore miscellaneous trees, pruned branches and leaves, and mowed grass is composted by a basidiomycete such as Pleurotus ostreatus (an oyster mushroom), Trametes versicolor, Caliolus (Calios versicolor) and Hypoxylon deustoram. By using the resulting compost, the contaminated soil with dioxins is cleaned; the dioxins, comprised of organic compounds such as polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofrans, causes toxic symptoms such as decrease in weight, thymitis-atrophy, liver-toxicity, immnunity-toxicity, development-toxicity, carcinogenesis, teratogenicity and endocrine-disturbance.
