PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilization method by photoirradiation which is capable of executing sterilization without damaging the composition of an object to be sterilized and a photo-sterilization device. SOLUTION: This sterilization method by stroboscopic photoirradiation consists in killing bacteria sticking to the surface of the object 4 to be sterilized or the bacteria included therein by irradiating the object 4 to be sterilized with stroboscopic light. The pulse light by the flash of the stroboscopic photoirradiation is absorbed by the bacteria and a rapid temperature elevation is induced. The temperature is elevated in the time as short as the short time which cannot be achieved by an ordinary high-temperature and short time sterilization method, by which the bacteria sticking to the surface of the object to be sterilized may be exterminated.
