Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiple disc brake system capable of providing sufficient cooling performance while preventing oxidation of a disc member group. SOLUTION: It is furnished with a disc member group forming a rotor member and a stator member 9 of a carbonaceous composite material, a pressing means provided adjacent to a casing 2 to cover this disc member group from the outside and to generate braking force by pressing this disc member group in the shaft center direction, a cooling air introduction port 2c formed on the casing 3 and to introduce cooling air from an outer part, bulkhead members 16, 17 arranged to surround the disc member group between this disc member group and the casing 2, forming an air circulating space 19 between itself and the casing 2 and forming an inner space 18 on the inside of which the disc member group is positioned and a cooling change-over valve 21 to communicate or to block the cooling air introduction port 2c and the inner space 18 on the inside of the bulkhead members to and from each other.
