Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively separate polyfunctional alcohols free from trimethylolpropane from water-based water-soluble salt solution through electrodialysis in no need of solvent. SOLUTION: Polyfunctional alcohols (from which trimethylol-propane is excluded, preferably selected from diols, ether diol, triol of oligomers or polymers and polyfunctional high alcohols of polymers) are separated by electrodialysis. The apparatus for the electro-dialysis comprises an electrodialyzer equipped with three separated circulation systems, a receiver belonging to the dialyzer, and five serially connected cell units. In the figure, M and M+ are each metal and metal ion, Polyol is a polyfunctional alcohol, K is a cationic ion exchange membrane, and A is an anionic ion exchange membrane. |
