Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stabilizer effectiveness controller structured so as to gain optimal turning characteristics in a wide speed range. SOLUTION: A stabilizer R effectiveness controller is provided with an actuator 1 to change the apparent torsional rigidity of the stabilizer R provided between left and right wheels, and controlling means (for example, the electronic control unit in the embodiment) that controls the output of the actuator 1. The controller judges whether or not the vehicle is initiating a turn. When the vehicle is initiating a turn, the actuator 1 is driven and controlled so as to change the apparent torsional rigidity of the stabilizer R such that there is a tendency for the vehicle to over-steer and then under-steer. As a result, the ability of the front of the vehicle to turn when a turn is initiated is increased, thereby gaining desirable turning characteristics. |
