Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent reduction of brightness of a display image, and have excellent strength against high pressure, and form a spacer securely. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with an anode substrate 4 composed by forming at least an image display part on a first substrate, a cathode substrate 2 composed by forming at least an electron emission device on a second substrate, and arranged so as to face to the anode substrate 4, and a spacer 5 having a roughly rectangular shape, stood between the anode substrate 4 and the cathode substrate 2. The spacer 5 is fixed to at least either of the anode substrate k4 and the cathode substrate 2 on both end parts in the longitudinal direction, and tension is given in the longitudinal direction of the spacer 5.
