PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output a simple image generated based on an image which is picked up by a still camera or a video camera provided with an image pickup means to an external unit and to recognize the picked up image recorded in a preservation memory as a preservation image through the use of the simple image in the external unit. SOLUTION: Image data which is picked up by an imaging device 33 is recorded in FD (a jacket casing including a magnetic sheet (floppy disk) as a magnetic recording medium) 17 as a preservation image. Simple image data whose information quantity is reduced compared to the image data is generated based on the image data and the simple image data is recorded in an IC card 18. Then, the image data recorded in FD 17 can be recognized by an electronic notebook by setting the IC card 18 in the electronic notebook.
