SOLUTION: The multiplexer consists of a control section 2, a low speed side line interface section 3, a multiplexing section 4, a high speed side line interface section 5, a line fault detection section 8, a display section 9, a clock section 13, a LAN interface section 12, a mail editing section 10 that edits occurrence of a line fault and restoration date and time, its contents based on information from the line fault detection section 8 and the clock section 13, and a mail transmission control section 11 that transmits a mail edited by the mail editing section 10 to the network by controlling the LAN interface section 12.
