Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart excellent abrasion resistance to a machining material sliding contact die surface composed of the die hole inner peripheral surface by sticking/ accumulating an electrode consuming melting substance or the reactant of a discharge electrode generated by discharge energy by submerged electric discharge machining to the machining material sliding contact die surface, and forming a refining layer of these. SOLUTION: A drawing die 100 having a die hole 102 machined by grinding machining or wire electric discharge machining is set on a processing object placing stand 9, and a machining liquid is gathered in a machining tank 7 so that the drawing die 100 is soaked in the machining liquid. A machining material sliding contact die surface 104 imparted by the inner peripheral surface of the straight part 102a of the die hole 102 of the drawing die 100 and a simple-shaped electrode 15 are opposed in a prescribed discharge gap, and pulse voltage is impressed to generate pulse discharge. Thus, an electrode consuming melting substance generated by discharge energy or the reactant is accumulated on the machining material sliding contact die surface 104a, so that a refining layer by the electrode consuming melting substance or the reactant is formed over the whole surface of the machining material sliding contact die surface 104a.
