Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a chamber, and to rapidly fill the chamber with gas or evacuate the chamber by providing a second passage which is branched from a first passage cut into a lower electrode and opened into the chamber from the side of the lower electrode, setting the inside of the chamber in a gas atmosphere or in a vacuum condition through the first and second passages under a specified pressure, and relieving the pressure in the chamber after the welding. SOLUTION: A tip part of a lower electrode 2 is of truncated conical inclined surface, and a center hole 25 is cut in its center from an upper part to a specified depth. Two side passages 26, 27 to be communicated with the center hole 25 are cut from a part at the side of the lower electrode 2 where an inlet nozzle and an outlet nozzle are provided, and a first gas passage is formed. A plurality of second gas passages 28 which are radially branched from the center hole 25 in the first gas passage and opened in the truncated conical inclined surface of the tip part are cut. The communication with the chamber can be sufficiently ensured without closing an opening part even when an adapter electrode is mounted on an upper surface of the lower electrode 2.
