Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of a wire-wound motor which assure use for a long period without eliminating resistor and also assure excellent maintenance. SOLUTION: This controller is provided with taps ta1 to ta3 provided to resistors 3, 5, 7 connected to each phase in the secondary side of a 3-phase wire-wound motor 1, a plurality of rectifying means 312, 314, 316 for rectifying the 3-phase AC voltages of the taps ta1 to ta3 to the DC voltages, a plurality of switch means 311, 313, 315 consisting of semiconductors for turning ON and OFF the output side of the rectifier means 312, 314, 316 and a control means 320 for sequentially turning ON these switch means 311, 313, 315 at the time of starting the 3-phase motor 1.
