Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent distortion in a read-out image by changing a drive carrier speed of a rotor and by fixing a document carrier speed. SOLUTION: A document in a D section is carried by only a discharge roller 16 and has the drive carrier speed higher than that of a carrier roller 12 so that the document carrier speed is suppressed not to be increased, and the drive frequency f4 is set f4<f3<f2<f1 so that the document carrier speed Vd in the D section becomes same to the document carrier speed Vb in a B section. The document passing through the D section is carried and discharged on a discharge tray and the change in the drive rotation speed is performed by changing the drive frequency of a pulse motor, being the drive source. The repetition of the continuous action enables the read-out of the image information of a plurality of document surfaces. The second document or after are simultaneously fed when the rear end of the first document passes through the feed roller 6 and the nip of a separation pad 9.
