Summary:The sensor comprises a ring of composite ferrite/thermoplastic material (2) magnetised with a number of poles forming the moving element of a speed sensing system. The composite ring is moulded into the inner surface of a metallic cylinder (1) with an extension (5) allowing it to be mounted on a shaft or tube (9,10) attached to the rotating element whose speed is being monitored. The support tube (2) may be perforated (7) or indented (8) to form a key for the composite ring (2), preventing dislocation. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simplified manufacture of magnetic transducer for wheel speed measurement in anti-lock braking systems with improved reliability.
