Summary:Process for adjusting the casting gap on a strand guide of a continuous casting installation comprises: adjusting the gap before casting using a path measuring system according to the ideal course of the strand thickness over the length of the guide; and continuously adjusting the gap after casting under operational load. The operational load and the rigidity of the components of the guide are considered by calculating the correction values for adjusting the gap. An Independent claim is also included for a continuous casting installation. Preferred Features: The casting gap is adjusted via four independent position regulating circuits each with a path measuring system.
