Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a steering wheel of an active steering system from suddenly rotating by allowing the transition of the steering angle to take place continuously in case the target value of the additional steering angle to be superposed on the steering wheel-angle varies skipping. SOLUTION: An open loop/closed loop control unit 37 of an active steering system is given a signal to predict a skipping transition from the old target value of additional steering angle δM to a new value from a steering wheel angle sensor 38, actuator sensor, or any other sensor in the vehicle, and/or a control device. The control unit 37 acknowledges that a skipping transition of target value has taken place actually using the input signals from the sensors and/or the control device of the vehicle 35 and smoothens the transition of the target value using a smoothing function.
