Summary: | The material is substantially improved in respect of mechanical and thermal load-carrying capacity and is distinguished by having a high level of resistance to wear, good resistance to corrosion and a low coefficient of friction. It has a cover layer forming the friction or sliding layer, with a matrix of thermoplastically workable plastics material, which can carry a high thermal loading, of thermoplastic amorphous polyetherimide into which are incorporated active filler materials with good sliding or friction properties. In addition the polyetherimide of the matrix may be stabilised by sterically hindered phenol derivatives as anti-oxidising and heat stabiliser agents or also by metallic inactivating agents, for example lead. In particular polyetherimide of the following structure is suggested. |
