Summary:An ignition system for internal combustion engines is proposed in which the halfwaves of the voltage which are not required for ignition are loaded in the primary circuit via a damping resistor (20). In order to be able to make the ignition system as compact as possible to form a hybrid circuit, the damping resistor (20) is applied over a large area on the side, facing away from the ignition switching element (16), of a substrate (21) for the hybrid circuit (25) and is placed in contact with the conductor tracks (22) which form the primary circuit.
