Summary:Controlled diffused printing effect is obtd. on polyester, mixed polyester, or cellulose fabrics by (a) printing the fabric with a paste contg. at least 1 disperse dye for the polyester, or a reactive dye for the cellulose, a thickener, and an agent which normally has a capillary action, this stage being carried out in a way to reverse the normal capillary action, (b) drying the fabric, (c) treating the fabric to initiate the capillary action of the agent, and at the same time fixing the dye on the fabric, and (d) washing the fabric. The fabric may contain polyester and cellulose fibres, and opt. the cellulose fibres are finally removed from the fabric. (a) The capillary agent is oleic acid, polyethylene glycol with mol. wt. 200-400 (400), dibutyl butyl-phosphonate, diethylene glycol, and/or 2-anilino-ethanol. The amt. is 2-12 (5-12) wt.% of the paste, e.g. 8-12% of oleic acid, or 5-10% of polyethylene glycol or 2-anilino-ethanol. (c) The activation and fixing are effected by wet steaming under high pressure. Use of complicated plant is avoided.
