Summary:The invention relates to insulating bodies (1) for the refractory sheathing and for the heat insulation of cooled tubes (pipes) (2), skid-rail tubes (2), supporting tubes (2) or upright tubes (2) in preheating furnaces, pusher furnaces or rocker bar furnaces (walking beam furnaces), which are designed to be curved in profile on the inside and, if appropriate, also on the outside, which are to be fitted on the tube (2) and which each exhibit a supporting framework (3), adapted to the curvature of the tube (2) which is to be insulated, a compacted fibre layer (4), provided on the supporting framework (3) towards the outside, a layer of refractory compound (5), provided on the fibre layer (4) towards the outside, and a plurality of anchors (6) which project from the supporting framework (3) through the fibre layer (4) into the refractory compound (5). The insulating bodies are further developed in that the supporting framework (3) is constructed from a plurality of corrugated bands (7) which intersect in a grid-like manner, and the anchors (6) engage, by means of angled-off fastening lugs (6a), beneath half-corrugations (7a), oriented towards the refractory compound (5), of the corrugated bands (7).
