Summary:A hybrid diesel fuel contains (a) a diesel fuel, (b) a surface-active agent, (c) water, and (d) fusel oil. The amt. of fusel oil is 14.2-19%. The fuel esp. contains (i) 69-78.3% (74.5-76.9%) of diesel fuel, partic. ASTM Diesel fuel No. 2, 14.2-15.9% (15.1-15.6%) of fusel oil, 1-6-7% of surfactant, and 3.5-10% (5-6%) of water. The surfactant is anionic and is an alkali (ne earth) salt of an alkylvenze sulphonic acid with a 9-15C alkyl gp., or of a 15-24C unsatd. fatty acid, esp. Na dodecylbenzene sulphonate, Na oleate or Na erucate; or it may be a blend of Na and Mg salts of unsatd. higher fatty acids, in ratio by wt. 90:10-40:60 (50:50). The fuel may contain cetane number improvers, corrosion inhibitors, metal deactivators and antioxidants.
