Summary: | A cylindrical vessel having a sealed cover, and provided with constrictions, in which permeable plates suspended from a ring are rotated, forms a continuously acting, pressurised filter. The vessel is divided vertically into three zones and where the zones join each other, sills or baffles of an elastic, flexible material are fitted. Vertical conduits positioned between the plates terminate at the sills, whilst their upper ends are connected to the central control head which regulates the level of the liq. and the supply of compressed air. The arrangement makes it possible to carry out in a single operation, processes such as defecosaturation which previously required two separate processing vessels or a highly complicated arrangement. In the sugar industry, the juice can be filtered without preliminary thickening and the ppte. can be washed and ejected automatically, mixing of the liqs. being prevented by the compressed air conduits. |
