USE:Synthetic precursor of 1-methyl-5-aroylpyrrole-2-acetic acid, an anti-inflammatory agent. PREPARATION:The reaction between a 2-aroylpyrrole derivative of formula I, e.g., 2-benzoylpyrrole, and an adduct of dimethylformamide with phosphorus oxychloride is conducted at -10-40 deg.C to give the compound of formula I.
